I know I’m not the only one who’s noticed but this new season of America’s original reality TV show, “OJ” comes at a really bad time for the country. We have far too much going on to get addicted to this again.

We need the national ADHD-effected attention span focused on what we think of the fact that Bush has just re-named the end of the surge “troop withdrawal” and has said that the same level of troops we had in Iraq when the Baker-Hamilton Commission brought forth its recommendations will remain in Iraq INDEFINITELY!

I could go on and on about other things we need to think about but we really need to focus. You know, it’s no secret we’re easily distracted.

So, haven’t you too thought it’s quite the coincidence that the season premiere of OJ started right as General Petraeus finished his testimony? It made me think it was on FOX this year, but nope. Turns out it’s on EVERY channel. They can’t give it enough air time. They’re even bringing back last season’s cast. I understand Kato got some air time. Then I saw Marsha Clark. I was just told there was an interview with the guy who flew the chopper over the 1994 car chase while they compared it to OJ’s drive home from the airport upon arrival in Florida yesterday. I’m sure only less important news was scrolling across the ticker at the bottom of the screen while that edge-of-your-seat thriller was on.

OJ should be competing for attention with Britney Spears and not with US foreign policy. Oh wait, on the cable news channels he IS competing with Britney Spears. So then, what channel is real news on again? I can’t find anything but OJ. And I’m as interested in OJ as the next guy. We just have got to have priorities!

Imagine if competing news channels could get exclusive rights to these media events and Fox and CNN went head to head with the OJ and Britney stories.

Talk about a divided nation!!!
