Passenger Attempted To Blow Up Northwest Airlines Flight From Amsterdam To Detroit
December 28th, 2009 by Mike McCready
This is scary stuff!
I fly transatlantic all the time on Delta / Northwest. I take an Ambien and I sleep. I also wear earplugs. If the guy that tried to bring this plane down had been sitting next to me I probably would have slept right through it.
I hate airports. I hate all the security rigmarole you have to go through but there is nothing too inconvenient to save my life. Bring on more airport security. I’ll deal with it.

Delta Attempted Bombing

Geezer it’s all smoke and mirrors, there is no terrorist threat. The occasional open-miker with a mental illness and a chemistry set poses no threat to your life. Security in place doesn’t even work, bottles of water in my handluggage have been through plenty of x-ray machines undetected; and why are they trying to sell me highly flammable liquids in glass bottles as soon as I’ve finished with “security”? Btw did you know pilots are also barred from taking liquids aboard? One pilot I know carries a picture of himself in the cockpit wielding the crash axe (on every jet) to show “security” checkpoint staff who confiscate his yoghurt or water bottle.
We should stand up to this nonsense, not say ‘bring on more’.
Well, I guess that’s a good point. As you know, my mother is a flight attendant and she’s always talking about the airline personnel not having to be screened etc.
My position is just that I want to get from point A to B safely.
