Last Wednesday, Pandora’s founder Tim Westergren appeared on The Colbert Report as the episode’s interviewee. I’ve written about Tm before on this blog and remember back to late 2001 when I co-founded Polyphonic HMI (now uplaya) and Tim’s company and mine were really the only two competitors in the market for the sale/license of music [...]

I’m very fortunate to be able to live in two great cities. One drawback however is how long it takes to get from one place to the other. Often I fly direct but sometimes for one thing or another I have a layover. Today I had a layover in Madrid and my flight to Barcelona [...]

His name is Davis Rogan. He’s a friend of some good friends of mine. I interviewed him a while back when I heard they were making Tremé and that one of the main characters was based on him. I was going to write a piece on The Huffington Post but I didn’t end up writing [...]

Give him a minute to warm up… nuf said: Update: The original video I posted was taken down by the owner (I don’t blame him) but some people anticipated that and made a copy of the video. The one you now see below is a copy so the quality isn’t as good as the original. [...]

My neighborhood, Greenwich Village in Manhattan is home to a lot of celebrities. Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick and their children live down the street. This morning I’m on my way to the office and I see this big billboard for SJP’s next movie on the side of a building and it occurs to me that they can’t leave home without seeing that and I just wondered what that must be like. “Look kids. There’s mommy!”

I saw this clip on NBC Nightly News last night. It turns out they tracked 5,000 people over 20 years and those that had all of the bad habits listed above aged about 12 years more than people their age who had none of those habits. Additionally, 29% of them died as opposed to only 8% in the group that didn’t drink or smoke and ate healthy while exercising regularly.

Maybe it’s just true that time flies when you’re having fun and drags on forever when you’re at the gym.

The official line is that the group fought with EMI (their label) to be able to post this video online and make it freely available. But we know that’s not true. Making viral videos has become OK GO’s trademark. Not allowing the video to go viral would be shooting themselves in the foot. OKGO is [...]

In case you missed it, this is a song about America’s health care system called We’re Number 37 by Paul Hipp. The best line is: We’re #1 in tanks. We’re #1 in planes. We’re #1 in war with #2 for brains Check it out:

I’m seeing on TV that the authorities are taking this manifesto offline. This is the manifesto written by the pilot of the light plane that crashed into the IRS building in Austin, Texas. I have not read it all yet (and don’t endorse it) but in the interest of free flowing information I’m posting it [...]

(text en català a continuació) Speaking of “hey look at me!” posts… early last year I thought I wanted to do a series of video podcasts that featured (rather, sort of compared and contrasted) Barcelona and New York. I go back and forth quite a bit so I thought I could get plenty of fresh [...]
